The 3,600 people involved in this year’s AASA National Conference on Education in San Diego is the highest total in more than a decade, Executive Director Daniel Domenech told the AASA Governing Board on Wednesday.

That figure includes registered participants, exhibit hall company representatives, award winners, sponsors and guests of attendees.

By the end of the conference, the paid registration count in San Diego will exceed 2,400, about 400 more than AASA had expected in building this year’s operating budget.

In his state of the association presentation, Domenech also said that conference exhibit hall sales had exceeded projections by 17 percent and sponsorships of various facets of the national conference were 33 percent above what was anticipated at the beginning of the fiscal year.
