Vallerie Cave, superintendent of Allendale County Schools, Fairfax, S.C., discusses her 35 years in education, her district’s turnaround success, and the INSPIRE Framework: Seven Systems for Transforming Underperforming Schools.
The framework focuses on instructional leadership, school climate and culture, student success, parental engagement, accountability through “inspect what you expect,” building strong relationships, and empowering people to lead the work.
She explains that the model begins with instructional leadership and aligning culture and climate, involving leadership teams composed of administrators and teacher leaders. These teams develop 45‑day action plans tied to data, establish clear goals and responsibilities, and meet regularly to monitor progress.
Although Cave is no longer able to attend the conference due to illness, her co-presenter Marcus Scott, Allendale's chief academic officer, will present the session on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 10:15 a.m.
