Heidi Sipe, superintendent of the Umatilla School District in Umatilla, Ore., spoke at the 2026 National Conference on Education during the session, “Social Media Lounge- Centering Student Voice: Storytelling on Social Media that Builds Trust.”

Sipe and Zandra Jo Galván, superintendent of Salinas Union High School District in Salinas, Calif., discussed how school leaders can use social media to help elevate student voice, celebrate meaningful learning and strengthen trust. Galván says students can help amplify the school district's stories through their own social media.
