15th Annual Save The Music Honor Heading to Illinois Superintendent

Dan Domenech & Keely Roberts

Keely Roberts, superintendent of Zion Elementary School District 6 in Zion, Ill., has been named the 2020 recipient of the VH-1 Save The Music Foundation’s 15th annual Administrator Award for Distinguished Support of Music Education.

Roberts accepted the award Saturday during the 3rd General Session of AASA’s National Conference on Education in San Diego.

This award recognizes one superintendent or school district CEO who has exhibited outstanding commitment to restoring music education in his or her school district. Roberts was chosen for her deep commitment to providing elementary students across Zion District 6 with a well-rounded education that includes music.

Since 2017, Save The Music Foundation has donated nearly $300,000 worth of new musical instruments to all seven Zion Elementary School District 6 schools in partnership with the Country Music Association Foundation.

Roberts has worked in education for more than 20 years, including five years as superintendent at Zion Elementary School District 6. The district serves 2,600 students, and has 224 teachers and 23 administrators at seven schools.

More details about the annual recognition program and this year’s award recipient are available in the official AASA press release.
