Superintendents from Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota and New York remain in the running for AASA’s 2023 National Superintendent of the Year Award with the public announcement taking place in late afternoon on Thursday, Feb. 16, on stage at the 1st General Session of the association’s national conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The four finalists are:
- PJ Caposey, Meridian Community Unit School District, 223, Stillman Valley, Ill.
- Matthew Hillmann, Northfield Public Schools, Northfield, Minn.
- Kevin McGowan, Brighton Central Schools, Rochester, N.Y.
- Trent North, Douglas County School System, Douglasville, Ga.
The national recognition program, which started in 1988, is co-sponsored by AASA, Corebridge Financial (formerly known as AIG Life & Retirement) and First Student.
