First full day in the books and what an amazing experience. I hope that all of you enjoyed the day of learning. The overarching theme this year, besides tremendous support of public education, is one of hope. There were so many wonderful sessions but if you have not had an opportunity to participate in a round table session, you should! These are not your traditional presentations but are an amazing time to discuss a topic and learn from several other like minded educators.
We ended day 1 by celebrating the superintendents of the year. The now past superintendent of year, Dr. Curtis Cain, was from my state of Missouri so it was great to celebrate his leadership one more time.
A final thought from the president of AASA was that we must do a better job of telling our story. We know we are under attack in public education but we must continue to be as proactive as possible and share the amazing things that are happening for kids in our schools. I hope all of you enjoyed the night on the River Walk and are ready for day 2!!
