This marked the 14th time the award has been given to an administrator for distinguished support of music education.
Escobedo was chosen for his deep commitment to providing elementary students across Chula Vista with a well-rounded education that includes music.
VH1 Save The Music Foundation began a partnership in the Chula Vista Elementary School District in 2013 and committed to providing instrumental music grants to all CVESD schools.
Escobedo has worked in education for 28 years, including serving the last eight years as superintendent at Chula Vista. It is the largest elementary district in California, serving nearly 30,000 students.
