It's hard to believe it's already March and that AASA 2017 National Conference on Education is next week. I don't know about you, but this time of year, I generally can use a little inspiration! Schedules are packed. Spring fever is in the air. Our board is engaged in strategic planning and review. Our legislators are proposing and counter proposing tax hikes, tax reductions, debating education policy, and I must not forget, writing a new school finance formula! In Kansas, having the legislature in session is a journey in-and-of itself! So needless to say, I am looking forward to networking and learning big ideas in the big easy!
AASA always manages to secure keynote speakers who share their stories that surely affirm for every educator that we really can, and do, change the world! Last year Mannie Scott mesmerized the audience as he shared his story of the life changing impact a teacher had on his life. This year's program has similar promise with Jamie Vollmer, Ravi Hutheesing, and the informative and often humorous “odd-couple” of Carville and Matalin. I am certain we will leave informed, invigorated, and inspired to transform “big ideas” into actions that prepare our students to reach their dreams.
So here's to sharing and learning Big Ideas in the Big Easy!
