Three book signings by authors along with an expanded selection of new book titles will be featured at the AASA conference bookstore in New Orleans.

The bookstore, sponsored by Sourcewell, will be located inside the exhibit hall at Booth 419, adjacent to AASA’s Social Media Lounge.

The bookstore will feature a slightly expanded selection of 32 books available at a discounted rate for conference attendees. Many of the featured titles are authored or co-authored by AASA members, offering valuable insights on educational leadership. Among the offerings are copies of books written by the four AASA members who are part of a conference panel “How to Take That Book Inside Your Head and Get It Published” at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, March 7.

Attendees can meet featured authors during scheduled book signings at the bookstore or its satellite location:

  • Kristi Wilson and Susan Enfield (co-authors of On Fire, Under Fire, or Fired: Superintendents in the Pandemic) at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 6, Booth 419;
  • Carole Basile (author of The Next Education Workforce) at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 6, satellite location, Hall E foyer; and
  • Freeman Hrabowski III (author of The Resilient University) at 11 a.m., Friday, March 7, Booth 419.

In addition to printed works, the bookstore will offer a variety of AASA-branded merchandise, including shirts, hats, sweaters, water bottles and coffee mugs.

When the exhibit hall is not open, a satellite bookstore will operate near conference registration in the Hall E foyer at the following times:

  • Wednesday, March 5, 2-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 6, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, March 7, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 8m 7:30 a.m. – noon

For the first time, an AASA Advocacy Action Center will be located adjacent to the bookstore. This center will provide attendees with the opportunity to engage in real-time advocacy for public education. Superintendents can contact their congressional representatives on federal policy issues at Booth 419 and receive an “I Advocated for Public Education” sticker.

The center also will serve as a gathering space for those passionate about federal advocacy and a chance to connect with AASA’s federal policy staff.
