The Century Club 100, which once served as the governing body of AASA, will hold its annual congress from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, in the Royal Room of the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
Open to members only, the Collegial Congress presentation will focus on “Mobility, Leadership and Learning: How Do You Lead Districts for Change.” John Landis, U.S. development executive with Apple Computer, is the speaker.
The Century Club 100 has served as an honorary organization facilitating the cross-country exchange of ideas within a social context since 1925. The club may well be the longest continuing tradition associated with the AASA National Conference on Education.
The executive director is Tom Shelton of Lexington, Ky. Mark Edwards will serve as president. He is senior vice president of digital learning with Discovery Education and former superintendent in Mooresville, N.C. Jerry Thacker, 1st vice president, is superintendent of Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp. in Mishawaka, Ind. Chuck Ledbetter, 2nd vice president, is superintendent of Dalton City Schools in Dalton, Ala.
As of the last count, the Century Club consisted of 100 active members (two from each state), 90 associate members and 14 honorary members. AASA Executive Director Dan Domenech is a lifetime Century Club honoree.
Two sponsors provided support for the program. Apple sponsored the speakers and the luncheon, and the Evelyn Blose Holman Education Foundation sponsored the programs. (Holman is a former CC 100 president.)
